I'm in the midst of updating my website. It's going to be unattractive for awhile.
In the meantime, maybe you should visit the Press section, which is mostly right, to see what people have been saying lately about my work.
I'll be at Microcon next week in Minneapolis. It's a one-day con, on Sunday the 29th.
Also, APE is going on this weekend. I contributed a comic to the anthology "Side A" which will make its debut at the con.
Next week at Microcon, another anthology is coming out and it will have a release part on the 28th. I'd give details if I knew 'em. "Muscles & Fights" will hit the scene (pun intended) and include the fight from my comic "Abe Lincoln Awesome," which is no longer available. See Abe's infamous chest hair. Buy this comic.

Here is the interview I did with Richard Vasseur at Jazma Online.
He also reviewed my online sketchbook comic Plastic Frames.
Even amateurs can be charming.

I made up the above comic book for a show here in Sioux Falls at the Horse Barn Arts Center. It's over now. Whoops! Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier. It's a nice space though, run by nice people, and once I put a few more copies of Human together, they will consign them in their little artsy craftsy store.
What is Human? It's my graphic novel! IT IS NOW FINISHED! It is available in the store and the cover looks like this:

Note: ABE LINCOLN AWESOME IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE! ANYWHERE! But I am trying to put together a little something for February 12th, what would have been his 198th birthday, had not circumstance intervened.
I've contacted Quimby's about the comics I sent them, and they've only got one issue of both 4th of July and Space Boy left available. So I've sent them Human. It should be available on their website sometime. I hope to get my own online store up to date, but it's tough, see, when you've got an internet connection like I do now. O woe is me.

THINGS THAT ARE NEW!
I'm totally sick of moving. Not everything has been moved yet. Maybe because I keep drawing. Here are two new things I made:
 PREVIEW:

 PREVIEW:

Comics both new and old are available here. I only have one copy left of Abe Lincoln Awesome and I'm totally sick of printing them so this is the absolute last one. Buy it if you need to have it.

To anyone who's missed out so far, you can hear me on the Holiday Presentation of the Box Brown Podcast! I read a comic by Tony Fleecs and talk and then my mom's Christmas band sings a song.

Thanks boxbrown! We just recorded another podcast together, so hopefully expect that soon.
I've submitted a few comics to stripfight lately. I haven't placed yet, so it might be rigged, but I guess it's still fun even if it is. The 100th battle is coming up. I've got my brass knuckles on:

I just did an interview for Jazma Online, so expect that sometime soon.
Right now I'm working on my relationship graphic novel and trying to read all of these new comics I've received and/or bought. I'm also moving. I'm also seeking subscribers for my comics and zines and you can sign up for that at the store.

Recently I was mentioned on the Box Brown Podcast. In fact, click on this advert for more info:

If you liked that show, stay tuned for even more Box Brown Podcasts! Boxy has been kind enough to let me collaborate with him on his next show, which is also the Christmas show. I estimate that through interviews, music, and reading, half of it is actually mine. Wow!
I've made a new comic that you can buy at the STORE:

It's satirical.

The first meeting of the Sioux Falls Chapter of the International Cartoonist Conspiracy went really well. I hope that if this idea interests you in the slightest, you will show up in December at Rainbow to draw comics with me. Check out the cartoonist conspiracy for more info.
Fallcon was super and I got lots of neat stuff and people even bought some of my comics, which was nice of them.
Lately I've been working more on my graphic novel and a few zine contributions.
Today I'm going to visit the photocopy machine and try to clean house a little.
I'm pretty tired and wish all of the time that I had a part-time job with full benefits and a free place to live.

BIG NEWS!
A COMIC I WROTE WAS ACCEPTED BY THE GRAPHIC NOVEL SIDE A! This is a big deal to me! I am very excited!
Since that won't be out until April '07 or so, I have a few things to tide you over. I made a new mini called "MORE!" and it can be found on shelves at the Ernie November on 41st St in Sioux Falls, SD, and also Rainbow Sportscards (same city). At last check, Rainbow is out of 4th of July. If you need it and can't find it, let me know. I will be surprised.
I've been writing a lot of political cartoons and letters to the editor about the abortion ban in SD and its potential overthrow this November. THIS ISSUE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. I am putting together a pro-choice zine that I will start passing around in October. All details are here, and just to make it clear, the invitation is open to anyone who has true stories about their need for or experience with reproductive choice: CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
Don't forget that in October you should all plan to visit Fallcon in Minneapolis, where I will be selling my mini comics, previewing my own graphic novel, promoting Side A, and sitting around a bunch of friends, so it seems! Here is a list of people who will be at the show that I know and you should meet:
Anders Carlson - a boatload of awesome minis Abby Lehrke - Green Avenger Dirk Tiede - Paradigm Shift Bob Lipski - Uptown Girl (I don't think he really knows me...but I used to buy comics from him) Tom Spence - 57 Knives (I actually can't remember the number of knives...but it's a wordless mini comic series available in Minneapolis) me! Sarah Morean - various mini comics
BIG NEWS: at Fallcon I'm going to release the first-ever best-of set of Plastic Frames comics. AND if I make enough money, I'm going to get on webcomics nation. So please, everybody come out and buy $100 worth of minis. Thanks!

some things
I'm listed on zinewiki, which I didn't even know existed, but I still think is pretty cool. It's not an article or anything, but it's kind of nice sometimes to see your name in an unexpected place. So please, everyone get my name tattooed in an area I will never see.*
This weekend I had a bit of a reunion with the boys from Vomit Sauce. We got together and wrote this inappropriate song** about two fat bikers finding love at the bar. It's called "Love Handles" and in it I sound really angry and gross, Alex sounds drunk and spunky, and Andy shreds a mean guitar solo.
I started my distance ed library course yesterday. So far I haven't done much because my book is on backorder. The class is called "Organization of Information," so when it's finished, I expect that I'll be able to do lots of cool things like label and catalog and organize all sorts of materials! I'm really excited about it! Over Christmas break I'm planning to catalog my comic collection.***
In October you can expect to see me at Fallcon in Minneapolis, MN. I've never had a booth for anything before, so I don't really know how it works. Please come over and talk to me. I've decided to print up some of my favorite comics from Plastic Frames to give away for free. I hear people like you better if you give them presents. So please, don't think of it as advertising, think of it as a gift.
I've made a few anthology submissions, but if you never hear me talking about them again, you can assume I was rejected. So don't bring it up!

*Jokes! **You have to right-click and "Save Target As" in order to listen. Sorry. ***Not even joking.

Today the smorean.com store is open for business. Feel free to buy something. There's not much yet. Comics are still available elsewhere, and I assume Quimby's still a bundle on hand.
I finished backdating more of my old comics in Plastic Frames. I'm trying to also backdate them on lj but I haven't yet.
I also made this because I thought I would like to have one, and though I can't imagine why you'd want to use it, I just think it's cute:

This is something you will find now at the store:

I just changed the look of my website like a lot. I hope that now it will be easier to explore.
I'm hopefully in the process of applying to get a booth at FallCon in Minneapolis this October, so mark your calendars right away and don't forget to be there. Unfortunately FallCon is happening on the same day as 24-hour comics. But get your priorities straight. You can do a comic in 24-hours any old time. FALLCON only happens ONCE a YEAR.
School starts for me soon, assuming I get the bill paid on time, and I'm not sure how much time that and a full-time job will allow me, but I'll keep trying to make more thingamajigs and comicsiwhatsits. Enough to attract your passing interest, at least. I hope.
With that in mind, I have been adding EVEN MORE comics to the Plastic Frames webcomic archives! There are some right at the beginning and a few in the middle and I'll just keep adding as I find them. I found a few when I moved recently and the rest have been moved over from the painting/drawing page that used to exist but doesn't anymore.
I've created a comics page with some things on it that you've never seen before. I haven't inked TWEE yet, but it's coming. Be patient.
Last month I went to Narbonicon and it was totally excellent. My photos are boring but they are also here if you want to see them. Everybody was very nice even though we were all celebrating a great evil. Please check out their webcomics/fanfic/scifi/graphic work:
Shaenon Garrity's Narbonic Dirk I. Tiede's Paradigm Shift also on Modern Tales Abby L.'s The Green Avenger Jason Furness's Pixelated Brian thinks you're dumb Deb Kosiba Valerie Kaplan Jeffrey Channing Wells (Big Apologies to anyone I might have missed...it was unintentional but won't be fixed until you let me know what your website is!)
A breakdown in changes to the website:
1) The bulletin board received mostly spam, so thanks to anyone who used it ever, but just leave me a comment if you want to talk about something. I'll be right here. Listening. 2) I may or may not re-add the writing section. Depends on how good you all are. 3) I added a bunch of comics to Plastic Frames, but those aren't the only comics I write, so I made a comics page just for comics and comicy stuff. 4) It looks different. 5) Clicking on the image at the top of the page should always bring you back to the previous page unless it doesn't in which case...oops. 6) I intend to have the Plastic Frames news page redirect here, because it seems a little silly to have two blogs. I mean really...ha ha ha...dumb. All of those entries have been shuffled into the smorean mix. If you don't believe me, go find them for yourself.
Regarding personal matters, I could really go for a praline right now. Please bring me one.

Hey pals,
Just wanted to let everyone know that updating the website has been difficult for the past month since I just moved and don't yet have internet access at home. I've spent most of my time making new comics. Three of my minis are now available on the Quimby's website. Just do a search for my name and these three titles will pop up:

I continue to have minis available for purchase at the following stores:
Big Brain - Minneapolis, MN The Source Comics and Games - Falcon Heights, MN Rainbow Sportscards - Sioux Falls, SD Quimby's - Chicago, IL
If my application ever comes in the mail, you may yet see me with a booth at this year's FallCon.
I've begun writing a comic for the Siouxland Heritage Museums' Volunteer Newsletter, which I'm sure you could obtain by contacting someone at the museum.
If you're in the Sioux Falls area this Friday, August 10th, I will be singing a song with the Dakota District Pipe and Drums group at the free outdoor noontime concert in the back rotunda.
Or if you're free tonight, my mom and I will sing with the pipers at the Sioux Empire Fair's Front Porch at 7:30 PM.
Hugs, Sarah Morean

The first issue of Space Boy in Outer Space is now available at Rainbow Sportscards in Sioux Falls, SD, or through me if you contact me via email. It only costs a quarter and doubles as a coloring book.
At this time I would like to thank the one person who has bought it and the guys at Rainbow for not only carrying it, but being pretty nice about it too.
4th of July is now available from Quimby's online store. Just search for my name "Sarah Morean" or poke around in the comics & minis section. I'm working on an autobiographical graphic novel-length comic chronicling some of the highlights and low moments of the last ten years of my life. I'm dreaming that in October at SPX someone will agree to publish it. It's quite long, so if I can't find a publisher, I'll maybe have to self-publish it in issues, but I would prefer to see it come out in one piece.

big news
Changes needed to be made to the about section because my life just changed.
I finished up another comic called 4th of July and it is now available at the following locations: Big Brain Comics (Minneapolis, MN) the Source Comics and Games (Falcon Heights, MN) Rainbow Sportscards (Sioux Falls, SD) Quimby's (Chicago, IL)
I do not yet know if Quimby's will make it available through their website.
It looks like this:

It costs this much:

I just moved and started a new job and will begin online courses for my MLS next month but there is no internet access at my new place right now. So updates my be sparce in the near future. Tough it out though, if you can. Don't forget to hang on to hope.
I don't have much to do where I now live, so I've been working on more comics. I just back-dated a bunch of them from the beginning of July, so check those out, and here is a sneak peek at what you can expect from me in the future:
Space Boy in Outer Space was an idea I had back in April. Perhaps my movement westward and relative alienation from most things I love has made writing out the story a bit easier. Probably it will be self-published by the issue and perhaps someday I'll look for a publisher. I tried to scan the first two pages as a teaser, but it's still in pencil and didn't really show up. I will tell you this: Issue 1 will include a heartbreaking goodbye and at least one rocket blast. I'm hoping to keep the content G-rated.
Full of short gag comics and silly with yuks! To be published irregularly by issue! 12 pages long! Hopefully clean-cut! With some special guest appearances by my favorite ex-president and yours---ABE LINCOLN!
I guess I like the idea of putting out issues.
The idea was recently suggested to me that I should print up this webcomic, Plastic Frames. A "Best Of" of sorts. This is not a terrible idea. But the intent of my webcomic has probably changed since I started updating here in March. Plastic Frames has decidedly become a dumping ground for most of my comics and some diary entries just so you don't think I've forgotten the Big Comics Dream or disappeared from life. But in most cases, if I was to re-print them elsewhere, I would re-draw them.
Anyway, some of the "Best Of" of Plastic Frames will be found in the Gag issues and some can be found in beckoid <3 nedroid and likely in the future they will crop up in other minor publications as well.
